Kingdom of Bahrain

Manama

LANGUAGES
Arabic (official), English, Farsi, and Urdu are also widely spoken.

FLAG
The flag is red, the traditional color for flags of Persian Gulf states, with a white serrated band (five white points) on the hoist side; the five points represent the five pillars of Islam.


MONEY
Bahrain's currency is the dinar (BHD).

TIME
Bahrain is 3 hours ahead of GMT/UTC; thus when it's noon in Bahrain, it's 9am in London, 4am in New York, 2am in San Francisco, 4am in Toronto, 7pm in Sydney and 9pm the following day in Auckland.

RELIGION
98% Muslim (Shia 70%, Sunni 30%), with small Christian, Jewish and Hindu communities.

WEIGHTS & MEASURES
Bahrain uses the metric system of measurements. Petrol is bought in litres and food is weighed in kilos.
